The Cross
1 Corinthians 1:23,24
What the honey-filled flower is to the bee,
that is the cross to me.
What the magnet is to the iron,
that is the cross to me.
What the wheels are for the car,
that is the cross to me.
What the lifebelt is to the drowning man,
that is the cross to me.
What food is to the starving man,
that is the cross to me.
It may be a stumbling block for some,
for us the cross shows the way towards eternal life.
It may be folly for some,
for us the cross is the wisdom of God.
It may be meaningless for some,
for us life is meaningless without the cross of Jesus.
It may be a scandal for some,
for us the cross explains God's justice and mercy.
It may be a superstition for some,
for us the cross is the enlightenment to our minds.
Lord,
We thank you for the cross of Jesus. Amen
