HEAL MY SOUL, LORD!
“ I said, “Lord, be merciful to me; heal my soul, for I have sinned against you” (Psalm 41:4).
The sickness afflicting the soul is severe than the sickness affecting the body. The sinful habits which are admitted into the souls bring sickness to the mind and make one dead even while being alive. The sickness in the soul is the cause of many physical illnesses.
A hen which had been brought up well at a home fell ill all of a sudden. The hen which was hale and healthy suddenly became immobile. The people at home took all measures to bring it back to normalcy. They gave it onion and grains to eat and water to drink. But it refused to take anything.
In the end, they decided to carry out a gastrointestinal surgery on it. During the surgery they found a pin piercing inside. The people removed the pin and completed the surgery with the required stitches. The hen became fully healed. Its movements and feeding habits became normal from then on.
Similar to this, certain worries prick the souls as pins and make some people sick. Such people stumble after becoming devoid of peace and unrest ruling their souls. Some of them slowly slide towards death, being unable to tolerate the treacheries committed against them. If it is going to be a physical illness, a doctor could be approached for remedy. But, if the problem is in the soul where could one go? Yes. Jesus Christ who is the heavenly doctor alone could heal the souls.
Is your soul afflicted with illness? How to identify the sickness in the soul? If the soul is afflicted with illness, one cannot read the Bible joyfully and praise God, getting filled with the Spirit. One’s mind will induce him to ignore the church service. Ultimately this will cause one to lose all his Spiritual happiness.
Once, a rich man requested a servant of God to pray for his vision which had been impaired. The servant of God told him, Sir, this not a problem related to your eye but your soul. First of all, I would like to pray for your Salvation. Will you confess your sins? Will you allow the blood of Jesus Christ to wash your soul? If you do this, both your soul and eyes will get healed. The rich man submitted himself with tears and as said, both his soul and eyes were healed.
