STRONG WORDS .... FOR ALL SOFT EGGS.....
A poem by Martin Niemoller (1892-1984).
He was a German Lutheran Pastor and anti - Nazi Theologian. He was famous for the following poem translated differently in paraphrase.
" First they came for the communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a communist
Then they came for the socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me"
"When the Nazis brought the Communists
I kept quiet; I wasn't a communist.
When you captured the Social Democrats,
I was silent ; I was not a Social Democrat.
When they took the trade unionists,
I did not protest ; I was not a trade unionist.
When they brought the Jews,
I did not protest ;
I wasn't a Jew.
When they took me,
There was no one else who protested... "
