Quasimodogeniti  

Now a days some celebrate the Sunday after Easter as Women Sunday remembering that the Risen Lord appeared first to Mary Magdalene. That's nice. In the ancient church this Sunday was dedicated to the remembrance of baptism. Christian women today have reason to remember that men and women were baptised equally whereas in the Old Testament covenant only male were full members. New  converts, men and women, were preferably baptised in the Easter night. They got white dress as a symbol for purity. They wore white dress till the Sunday after Easter. Hence the name for this Sunday is also White Sunday.  I Peter 2:2 was reflected. The baptised ones were like new born babes (Quasimodogeniti ). I observed a nice meaningful custom in some villages around Tranquebar. A red cross was stitched on the white baptism dress of the children. Whether you are baptised as child or adult you receive purity only through the blood of  Christ (Revelation 7:14 ).  If your white dress has become soiled through your sins turn to Jesus Christ. Only He can purify and renew us. Receive the gifts of the Living Lord which He offers to you.
