The Ascension Day of Christ :
It is the fortieth day of Easter or Ten days before the Day of Pentecost (whit sunday). It is celebrated from the fourth quarter of the fourth century. It comes on the sixth Thursday after Easter. It's an important feast in the Church Calendar. Some countries declared holiday to this Ascension Day.
Exaltation and Ascension : Even though Christ was in the form of God , He didn't considered it to be a privileged position to be equal with God but He humbled Himself and emptied Himself and died on the Cross. So God exalted Him." Therefore God also highly exalted him (Phil. 2:9).
1. Jesus came from heaven and after accomplishing his salvific work, He returned to heaven. "What then if you should see the Son of Man ascend where He was before?" ( John 6:66).
2. Jesus earthly ministry ends after the Day of Ascension. The only Post-Resurrection appearance of Jesus was given to Apostle Paul on the way to Damascus.
3. The earliest creed of the church is in 1 Tim. 3:16 . It says Jesus was taken up in glory.
4. When Jesus was ascended into heaven He didn't ascend alone but took the risen people along with Him, who had appeared to many in the Holy City. “When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men" (Eph. 4:8 ).
5. "He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God"( Mk. 16:19).
Sitting at the right hand of God is a fulfillment of the messianic prophecy ( Psalms 110:1).
6. The present day ministry of Jesus , the intercessory prayer of Jesus at the right hand of God began on this Ascension Day !
